A Very Minster Christmas

Dear Minster and Friends,

It’s beginning to look a lot like…Christmas! Christmas is nearly upon us, but Advent, where we are now, is a time of joyful waiting. We eagerly await the celebration of our Saviour’s coming; and also, His triumphant return, which we know will bring the full consummation of the victory He has already won.

Our celebrations this year involve a great selection of services; and we’d love to see you and your guests at as many of these as possible. As a reminder, here’s what’s coming up:

This coming Sunday (8th), we’ll be gathering as usual, reflecting on the visit of the Magi to Jesus.

Next Sunday, the 15th, will be our Christmas family service. As part of this service, we’ll have a top-notch puppet show, including a re-written version of a song that any family with young children will definitely know! There will also be festive treats for the kids, and those who’ve been in our children’s work the last few weeks will be performing a song. As if all that isn’t enough excitement, there will also be post-service donkey rides!

Sunday 22nd will be a bumper Sunday, with two services. In the morning, we’ll have our first ever Outdoor Live Nativity; moving around the farm from one ‘set’ to another, as we explore the nativity story together. It will start promptly at 10:30am, so please don’t be late; but do bring your friends. Again donkey rides will be available afterwards, alongside festive refreshments, including the opportunity to decorate cookies. And if the weather’s terrible – well, we have a plan in place.

That evening, we have an adult-friendly carol service, where our aim is to immerse all who are present in a re-telling of the Christmas story through carols and stories. Festive treats will be served from 7pm in the Barns; and again, this will be a guest-friendly service.

Then on Christmas Eve, we’ll begin with refreshments in the Barns from 3pm, before a traditional-yet-family-friendly carol service, just to get everyone fully in the mood for Christmas. The animals will be around, lending that authentic Christmas feel to proceedings!

Finally, on Christmas Day, we’ll gather in the Big Barn for a celebration of Jesus’ birth, in the form of an all-age service with communion.

It promises to be a wonderful Christmas season at the Minster – we look forward to seeing you, and anyone you’d like to invite, at any of our special services.

With much love,

Frog
