Pray Today: Day 15, The Spirit of Caleb

Read & Consider

Read  Numbers 14:22-24

Consider

The Lord’s patience had been tried and tried again by His Hebrew children. No matter that they had seen with their own eyes His Presence go before them on their journey in the pillar of cloud and fire, still they doubted His promise to lead them to the Promised Land. They let the fear of the unknown magnify their doubts and the drawbacks.   How easy for us to make the same mistakes when we focus on ourselves, and all we lack in size, ability or resources!

Not so for Caleb who had a “different spirit”, a faith fuelled spirit ready to pursue and claim the promises of God Almighty. He saw the size of the challenge in relation to the God he worshipped, and that’s where he put his confidence and faith.

Over to you

Pray for

  • If this has been a dry season, pray that God will give you a fresh outpouring of His Holy Spirit to re-ignite your faith
  • That like Caleb we as a church will step boldly into this new season and not be scared of the future
  • Pray for opportunities to witness to our faith

Question

Has God been asking you to step forward or step up?  What action is required?

Challenge

Draw a timeline of your life to date and chart where God helped you through a difficult phase. Thank and praise Him that whether we see it or not he is always with us.

Optional extra Family activity

Make a Time Capsule and add photos, pictures, scriptures, newspaper clippings etc. of this lockdown period and a letter for a future reader – as a survivor with ‘a different spirit.’
