Dear Friends,

Got to love England. True to form the summer holidays usher in the rain, and at the Minster we have always decided to make the summer season pretty special. Even though many people are away, a large proportion of us are around and have friends and family coming to visit.

Every Sunday over August, starting this weekend, we throw a free BBQ after the service. Different Minster Communities host each week and there is no need to book or plan ahead- consider yourself invited and whatever the weather we will make the most of our time together with chances to hang out, eat and chat. There will also be notices of various social events given out each week so stay tuned!

Every Sunday we have special children’s programme and an excellent series of Summer Sermons where each stands alone so you won’t miss the flow.

With love,

Prayer: We would be grateful for your prayers, as Amy and I and our boys will be visiting Raymond and Brenda Bukenya, our Mission partners in Karamoja, Uganda, this week, and catching up with Paulson (who was with us whilst studying at OCCA this year) in a short mission trip which will involve speaking to all clergy and wives in Kampala, as well as ministering in various churches and taking part in Paulson’s Christening service of his Daughter, Blessing.

Giving thanks: a good group of us from the Minster had a refreshing time at Focus, a festival that is hosted by the network of Churches associated with HTB. Although the weather left a lot to be desired it was a deeply enjoyable and encouraging week and there will be a group of us going again next year and camping together. More details will follow over the next few months, and the tickets are significantly reduced if we buy before November.

Planning: Many thanks for all those who wrote letters in support of the application to restore the old buildings and build a new church building on our wonderful farm site. Many letters were received and we await official response from the planning committee of Chiltern. Please pray for a speedy and positive response so we can start work!

Cover: Even though we have a lighter team over the summer there is continual cover for the office and farm and for pastoral care throughout the next few weeks. Feel free to come up as usual for any walks, prayer, and conversation. We are even hosting a wedding this weekend.
