Remarkable Things

Dear Minster and Friends,

We have seen some remarkable things today.” (Luke 5:26)

When people meet with God, he often takes us by surprise. In Luke 5 two people meet Jesus – a man covered in leprosy, and a man who was totally paralysed.  They are both healed, restored and leave the story full of joy, acceptance and go to and fro telling everyone who will listen about the difference that knowing Jesus has made to them.  Even though there were some who found this difficult (not least the family who owned the house that had it’s roof pulled apart to lower the paralysed man into the room to be healed!) the vast majority of those who saw the way Jesus treated people uttered these great little words: ‘We have seen some remarkable or extraordinary things today.’

It seems that things never go quite how we expect if you let real people get to know the real God. As we get ready for a series of great events that we will be hosting in the area as a church over the next few weeks – please have in mind who you think would benefit from getting to know God for themselves, and finding out about Jesus.

Also for your prayers for the next two weeks are a series of meetings we have scheduled with the councillors and planning department concerning our application, which includes all the plans for the building of a barn church for Latimer Minster at Stampwell farm.  If you are not able to go to the men’s movie night at the Crowne Plaza  – then you are welcome to attend the committee meeting and show your public support in person for the application and deliberations. The committee meeting will be from 6:30pm on 22nd November. (Council Chamber, King George V House, King George V Rd, Amersham.)  We will of course be parying fervently that we can make the best representation possible and that the outcome will serve God’s Kingdom.

With much love, and with prayers that over the next few weeks we could say ‘we have seen some remarkable things today,
